21 September 2026 – Parcent to Murla

 

We cancelled the last two Monday walks because of high temperatures

It has been much warmer than normal for both June and September

In June we had to cancel the last two walks because of the heat

And we have already cancelled two in September

The forecast for today was a much cooler 18 to 26c

But it rose on Sunday to a forecast of 29c

This was slightly higher than our last walk

But we felt it was too late to cancel

It was pleasantly cool when we met in Parcent

And the first part of the walk, to Murla, was fine

And fortunately it was shaded at the church for our banana stop

But the temperatures rose on the way back to Parcent

Fortunately we were able to find sufficient shade for water stops

And I was careful to keep the pace down

So we managed without any problems

There were only 13 on today’s walk 

That included Ali and Faezeh neice Roxana

21 had said they were available to walk

But 11 then cancelled for various reasons

Then two turned up I was not expecting

It is hard to understand why so many cancelled

It may have been the weather

Or just one of those things

But it is disappointing after I tried so hard to resolve the membership problem

Despite all of that it was a very enjoyable walk

It is so much nicer to have a small group

And if necessary it allows me to offer membership to new residents

We just hope that the temperatures will soon revert to normal
