The weather forecast for today was not
very promising
Not only 60% chance of rain, but also red warning for rain and storm
It was all forecast to start at 1400,
so we decided to chance it
Some didn’t, and we had 4
cancellations this morning
16 of us met at the tourist
information office in Jalon
Though less than normal lately, this
used to be the maximum for each walk
Smaller groups always seems to mix
much better, and are easier to control
The first half of the walk was sunny with a light breeze
This walk included the “almond blossom”
extension
No almond blossom today, but lots of
spring flowers
Not as impressive as last week in the
bright sun, but still very pretty
It was still sunny and warm as we reached
Alcalali mirador for our “banana break”
But the dark clouds appeared as we set
off for the return journey
I decided to shorten the walk and not
do the extension to the ermita
It looked like it might rain, but fortunately
improved as we approached Jalon
We sat inside bar Claudia, as it was cooler without the direct sun
We enjoyed the walk because the weather was much better than expected
And it once more proved the wisdom of
not cancelling at the first sign of rain
However the rain did arrive in the
late afternoon and there was quite a storm
By then we were all safely home and grateful for a very enjoyable walk
Temperature – 17 to 21c
Time taken – 2.5 hours
Distance – 8km
