16 March 2026 – Lliber to Senija

27 signed up for today’s walk

This included one new member

Sandra is Wayne’s sister

So we are fast becoming a family walking group

Two of the group did not turn up for the walk

And a further one had to abandon the walk for a minor health problem

Fortunately a friend agreed to return to Lliber with her

So the rest of us were able to complete the walk

20 years ago this week Jan and I moved to Spain

Within the previous week we both retired from work

We also completed the sale of our house in Salisbury

On 17 March 2006 we caught the Portsmouth to Santander ferry

On 18 March 2006 we arrived in Parcent to start our new life in Spain

We had chosen the Jalon Valley because it is such a popular walking area

We also knew about the Costa Blanca Mountain Walkers who offer two walks each week

Within a few weeks we had joined CBMW and attended our first walk

We made a lot of new friends, including Gerald and Maureen, who had their own private walking group

They invited us to join and for the next 10 years we walked with them every Monday

In 2016 we formed our own U3A walking group, which met every Thursday

Two years later we formed a second U3A group to replace our Monday group

We have walked with a very large number of like minded people during those 20 years

We have shared thousands of happy memories and consider many of them friends

We have recorded all of those walk on this, and previous, blogs

So I can confirm that we have shared 861 walks – this one included

Temperature – 14 to 20c

Time taken – 4 hours

Distance – 10km
